Butterscotch Studios

A drop-in class for anyone curious about rhythm. We cycle through traditional rhythms from Mali and Guinea, one at a time, exploring how dundun, bell, and djembe parts weave together into a living, breathing groove. Less drilling, more feeling. Come ready to listen, lock in, and play.

About

This drop-in is all about connection and feel — less about drilling parts, more about understanding how everything flows together as one living system

We’ll cycle through a variety of West African rhythms from Mali and Guinea — with each class focusing on one rhythm at a time so we can really settle into it, feel it, and understand how it works

We’ll explore:

How the dundun and bell parts lock in

How djembe parts weave into the groove

Finding the downbeat and riding the pulse
