About The Butterscotch Studios Founders

Butterscotch Studios began as wishful conversations over coffee that “someday, when we're retired ladies, we'll have a space for music and art where all those we love will come hang out with us.” Well, in late 2024, that dream became real.
We are Sam Mallouf and Laura Stratton, partners in life and creativity. Laura’s been playing music for nearly her whole life. She started with classical piano at 6 years old, she picked up guitar as a teen, and has been writing music with her Foxfeather bandmate Carly for 20+ years. Sam studied Art and Art History in San Francisco, built and lived in a tiny house, and has a passion for creating spaces where people feel inspired and connected.
When we drove past a charming little house in downtown Longmont, it felt like the perfect home for our vision. Butterscotch Studios opened its doors in February 2025, and from day one, it’s been about more than music lessons, it’s about community. At Butterscotch, we are working daily at creating a space where people of all ages and from all backgrounds can come together to learn, create, and find joy from each other and through music and art.
Longmont is our home, and we’re so grateful to be building this community. We’d love for you to come create, connect, and feel at home at Butterscotch Studios.
