Kiernan was born and raised in Colorado and is a third year Jazz Studies and Music Education major at the University of Northern Colorado. He is an active educator and performer with a strong background in jazz studies.

 

Over the years, Kiernan has earned awards in competitions and participates in workshops and masterclasses both in and out of state, bringing a wealth of knowledge and experience to his students. He will appear at the 2026 North American Saxophone Alliance Biennial Conference with the UNCo Saxophone Ensemble.

Kiernan specializes in beginning and intermediate saxophone and clarinet, emphasizing strong fundamentals, music theory, and well rounded musicianship. His teaching philosophy is personalized and student centered, dedicated to helping his students achieve their artistic goals and develop a lifelong love and appreciation of music.
