August Fackler is a Colorado-based musician and composer. From a young age, August was always inspired by the music around them and sought out avenues to make the music in their head come to life. On his primary instrument, guitar, August has experience in rock, funk, and folk bands, musical pit orchestras, and classical guitar settings. In addition to guitar, August is proficient on bass guitar, banjo, mandolin, and ukulele.
August’s compositional style is inspired heavily by film scores. He has written works for symphony orchestra, mixed chamber ensembles, and bluegrass band, among others. August strives to write dramatic, narrative music that draws out the listener’s emotions.
As an educator, August helps students bring their music to life through a combination of curiosity, musicality, music theory, and technique. With such a diverse background in music, August enjoys guiding students toward their voice in whatever style they seek.
August received a bachelor’s degree in Music Composition with a minor in film scoring and performance certificate in guitar from the Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. Outside of music August enjoys mountain and gravel biking as well as spending time with their dog in the mountains.
