About the Festival
Lavender Lit Fest is a daylong celebration of queer books, writers, readers, and community, presented by Aimee Herman + Sam Field, hosted by Butterscotch Studios on September 19, 2026. This event is sponsored by RMEQ, Colorado Poets Center, and PROUD CMC.
Inspired by the joyful nostalgia of the book fairs we grew up with—and reimagined for queer readers of all ages—Lavender Lit Fest brings together local authors, poets, presses, literary organizations, and community members for a full day devoted to stories, creativity, and connection.
The festival begins with **free writing workshops from 11 a.m.–4 p.m.** (RSVP required), followed by a **book fair from 12–4 p.m.** featuring books, literary organizations, independent presses, and opportunities to meet writers from across Colorado’s literary community. From **12:15–1 p.m.**, join us for **Drag Story Time**, a joyful, family-friendly celebration of books and imagination.
The day concludes with an **evening reading from 6–9 p.m.**, featuring an exciting lineup of poets and writers. Tickets are required for the evening program.
Lavender Lit Fest is about more than books. It’s about creating a space where queer stories are abundant, where writers and readers can find one another, and where our literary community can gather, celebrate, and imagine what comes next.
